Port of Los Angeles registers record cargo volume of 9.2 million TEUs for 2016-17



North America’s leading sea port, Port of Los Angeles closed its 12-month fiscal year with total cargo volumes of 9.2 million Twenty-Foot Units (TEUs). This is a new annual record for most container throughput for a Western Hemisphere port. Volumes increased 8.1 percent in June compared to the same period last year, marking the second busiest June in the Port’s 110-year history.
