DHL opened the new sorting center at its express hub in Leipzig. This would allow sorting of bulkier and heavier shipments on a fully automated basis. The EUR 230 million investment to expand the European hub has enhanced processing capacity of DHL close to 50 percent to 150,000 shipments per hour. This has also managed to create 1,300 jobs since work began on the expansion, thus bringing the total number of people employed by DHL at the hub to around 4,900.
