For the first time, the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore’s public marine terminals surpassed one million tonnes of general cargo in one month, handling a total of 1,007,704 tonnes in May and leapfrogging past the previous record of 923,030 tonnes set in January. The North America port also set a record by handling 86,403 TEU (20-foot long) containers in May.

IAG Cargo has reported commercial revenue of €260 million over the period from April 1 to June 30, 2017, an increase of 7.6 percent on 2016 at constant exchange. Overall yield for the quarter was up 1.1 percent at constant exchange. Volumes were up 6.4 percent, while capacity grew by 5.9 percent.

The New York Stock Exchange listed aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has reported strong earnings and operating cash flow in the second quarter of 2017, driven by improved operating performance. Second-quarter earnings per share increased to $2.89 and core earnings per share increased to $2.55. Revenue was $22.7 billion, reflecting planned production rates and timing of commercial and defense aircraft deliveries.

The UK based rail freight operator, DB Cargo is pushing digitisation of its vehicle fleet further. The Company has roped in the technology major Siemens for the up-gradation of the existing fleet of locomotives. Under the new contract, Siemens will upgrade DB Cargo existing class 152 electric main line locomotives and transform them into what DB Cargo calls TechLOK system. Also, class 170 and 191 Vectron locomotives from Siemens will also be connected to the TechLOK system.

Port of Helsinki has seen 12 percent increase in cargo traffic between January-June compared to the same period in 2016. Imports increased by 12 percent, and exports by 11 percent. In the first half of 2017, a total of 6.5 million tonnes of goods were transported via the Port of Helsinki. Of all cargo traffic, imports accounted for 3.3 million tonnes, and exports accounted for 3.1 million tonnes.

LUG aircargo handling GmbH has announced that it has agreed on a service contract with Dubai headquartered Emirates, effective October 2, 2017. Emirates operates passenger aircraft (A380 and B777) three times a day between Frankfurt-Main and Dubai. In addition to this, Emirates also offers eight all- cargo flights with B777F per week. As per the new agreement, LUG will handle the belly cargo as well as road feeder services (RFS) and cargo from freighters for Emirates SkyCargo.
